Medical Director

Position title: Medical Practitioner/ Director at International Health and Medical Services

Position location: Sydney CBD, New South Wales

Work type: Full Time Contract till December 2023 + potential extension

Type of role:  Office based role (mainly Monday to Friday during office hours) 

 Pay type: Base salary + bonus + super + 4 weeks annual leave

About the role 
  • The Medical Director will provide clinical direction and governance to all clinical activities across multiple platforms from a centralized location.

Key Responsibilities 
  • Work with a multidisciplinary team and multiple stakeholders tasked with providing the highest quality care to clients in Immigration Detention, working closely with the Department of Home Affairs
  • Work with and manage a team of health care professionals and coordinators to provide healthcare across Australia in multiple languages
  • Coordinate local and international air movements across multiple countries and facilitate continuity of care in foreign destinations
  • Facilitate the provision of healthcare to clients in remote locations through multiple mechanisms including transfers to centres of medical excellence
  •  Facilitate and monitor complex care provision for clients with multi-system health disorders and/or with challenging social circumstances, using a wide variety of specialists, general practitioners, allied health experts and case worker agencies
  • Develop and maintain good working relationships and with all stakeholders
  • Working from a purpose built, state of the art health coordination centre in Sydney CBD with great access to local restaurants, cafes and shops

  • Essential requirements (e.g FRACGP, RMO, AHPRA etc) 
  • Full working rights in Australia 
  • Full unconditional registration with AHPRA as a Medical Practitioner 
  • Fellowship in RACGP, ACRRM, and/or RACMA/AFRACMA highly desirable 
  • Work experience in General Practice or another area of clinical medicine, Medical Administration or Healthcare Management equivalent for five years required. Aeromedical experience is desirable. 
  • Being able to participate in the after hours roster 
  • Computer literate in Microsoft Office and able to use electronic medical records
